Ruined by Reading: A Life in Books

I would never argue to judge a book by its cover, but I think it would be hard to argue that we aren’t influenced by covers. Lory and I will be talking more about finding books and how that happens. Covers play a role.

Lory and I walked into Wonder Book in Frederick Maryland (they have another location in Gaithersburg Maryland), a favorite spot for both of us. They have a tremendous used book selection. It can be hard trying to find a specific book, but it is very easy to find books that you weren’t looking for.

Lory and I walked in one day and not from the front door I saw a stack of red books. I walked over to take a look. It was a book called Ruined By Reading: A Life in Books by Lynne Sharon Schwartz. I have a bunch of books about books and reading; the title sold me and I bought it.

Love it! Maybe we will talk about it sometime. I would say that we definitely will, but as Lory and I try to plan for where we are going with the podcast, it is clear that we have a lot more to talk about than we have time to talk.

So, back to covers. I’m not going to say that I bought the book because of the cover, but there is no doubt that I bought the book because the cover attracted me.
